As the summer months roll in, it’s time to bid farewell to the snowy slopes and store away your beloved skis and snowboards. But just because you’re not hitting the mountains doesn’t mean you should neglect your gear. In fact, proper snowboard summer maintenance is crucial to ensure your snowboard stays in top shape and ready for the next winter season. In this blog post, we’ll share some essential tips on how to take care of your board without going to a snowboard shop.

Clean and Dry Your Snowboard:

Before storing your board, it’s important to give it a thorough cleaning. Use a mild detergent and warm water to remove any dirt, grime, or leftover wax. Pay special attention to the edges and base of the board. Once cleaned, make sure to dry it completely to prevent any moisture-related damage.

Wax Your Snowboard:

Applying a fresh coat of hot wax before storing your snowboard can help protect the base and keep it in good condition. Choose a wax suitable for summer storage and apply it evenly across the base. Remember to scrape off any excess wax before storing the board.

Store in a Cool and Dry Place:

When storing your snowboard, the environment plays a crucial role. Find a cool and dry place to keep your board during the summer months. Avoid storing it in areas with high humidity or extreme temperatures, as these conditions can damage the board. A basement or a dedicated gear storage area are ideal options.

Loosen the Bindings:

To prevent unnecessary stress on the snowboard, it’s recommended to loosen the bindings during the summer months. This relives stress on the board and prevents the bindings from warping or causing pressure points. However, make sure not to loosen the bindings too much, as you don’t want them to fall off or get lost.

Check for Damage:

Before storing your snowboard, take the time to inspect it for any signs of damage. Look for any cracks, dents, or delamination on the board. If you spot any issues, it’s best to get them repaired before storing the board. Before applying a thick layer of wax you can also fix any damage on the base using a P-Tex candle.
